Most countries' equities, including India's, saw their worst quarterly performances in 14 quarters due to concerns over a slowdown in China and uncertainty over interest rate increase by the US central bank. The aversion saw flight of capital from riskier assets such as emerging market equities and currencies. The market plunge saw nearly $11 trillion of investor wealth getting wiped out. Commodity prices and commodity-linked shares were the worst hit.
