India needs to look at a multi-pronged approach to ensure national security in the quantum computing era as well as have bilateral partnerships for rapid adoption of emerging technologies, according to a NITI Aayog research paper released on Wednesday.
The NITI Frontier Tech Hub (NITI-FTH) in partnership with Data Security Council of India released the paper on the rapid evolution of quantum computing, its implications on national security and what is needed for India to get ahead of the curve to shape its trajectory. NITI Aayog CEO B V R Subrahmanyam released the paper.
The paper said a strategic framework is essential to navigate the opportunities and threats posed by quantum computing.
"A proactive, multi-pronged approach will ensure national security remains resilient in the quantum era," it said and called for establishing bilateral partnerships for rapid adoption, especially the modalities that offer scalability.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ordered the Centre and Delhi government to comply with the Supreme Court's directions over compulsory registration of marriages in three months.
A bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said it was "pathetic and appalling" that the 2006 apex court order, asking all marriages to be compulsorily registered irrespective of faith, was not yet implemented by the authorities.
"This is pathetic actually. It is appalling as to how you are not implementing the order of the Supreme Court," it added.
The high court also issued notice to both governments on a petition seeking direction to the Ministry of Home Affairs to prepare rules for a centralised database of marriage registration.
The Supreme Court, in February 2006, ruled that all marriages, irrespective of their religion, be compulsorily registered and directed the Centre and all states to frame and notify rules for this within three months.

Authorities said she died of illness, but her family claimed she fell into a coma after being mistreated by the police. Sources said the police beat Amini with a baton and banged her head against a vehicle. At her funeral on September 17 in Saqez, women protested by ripping off their hijabs. Protests sparked by her demise have since roped in ethnic minorities and even school children. Thousands of women since then have been showing solidarity by cutting their hair and burning their hijabs in public.
						
						Now, the unrest has spread beyond a women&amp;#39;s right to a movement that is calling for an end to theocratic rule. The protests are now the most broadly supported movement in Iran in over four decades.
