IND vs SL | 1st Test | Day-1 | Live Updates: Sri Lanka missing the second spinner

There is no doubt that Sri Lanka have played the wrong team here as they have gone with only one specialist spinner while the home team have played three specialist spinners in Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav.

Sri Lanka could have easily played Praveen Jayawickrama as the second spinner in place of Vishwa Fernando, who is more of a swing bowler and there are no signs of swing whatsoever. It is going to hurt Seri Lanka given that even a part-timer like Dhananjaya de Silva is able to turn the ball.

Team India went off to a flyer in the first session on the first day of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka as skipper Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal added 52 for the first wicket. However, as Lahiru Kumara was introduced into the attack by the Sri Lankan captain, he brought the end of the Indian skipper.

At the announcement of the Playing 111s, there was a surprise from the Indian side as it went with three spinners on Moha;li pitch which is known for its pace and bounce. Sri Lanka on the other hand went with three pacers and only one designated spinner, which is weird in all circumstances. Also, Dinesh Chandimal, who scored a lot of runs in the last Test series for Sri Lanka could not find his place in the Playing11 either.
