3rd ODI highlights: Kohli's 123 goes in vain as Australia win by 32 runs

	Virat Kohli looked like a &#39;Man on a Mission&#39; wearing the camouflage army cap for the better part of his 41st ODI hundred but that wasn&#39;t enough to prevent India from losing the third One Day International (ODI) against Australia by 32 runs at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday. Usman Khawaja&#39;s hundred and Aaron Finch&#39;s 93 saw Australia put up a more than decent 313 for five and India could manage only 281 in 48.2 overs, that too solely due to Kohli&#39;s 123 off 95 balls.</div>

	However Adam Zampa (3/70), by far the most impactful Aussie bowler, yorked the Indian skipper after having accounted for former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (26). He did get hit but he would any day take wickets of Kohli, Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav (26) in return.</div>

	Kohli had three significant partnerships -- 59 with Dhoni for the fourth wicket, 88 with Jadhav for the fifth wicket and 45 with Vijay Shankar for the sixth -- but none good enough to take India across the line.</div>

	The trio gave away 160 runs in 22 overs and it was left to Jasprit Bumrah (0/53) and Mohammed Shami (1/52 in 10 overs) to maintain the discipline during the final overs as the total could have gone close to the 350-run mark.</div>

	In the final 10 overs, Australia could score only 69 runs, despite being 244 for two after 40 overs, courtesy Bumrah and Shami who bowled 64 dot balls between them.</div>

	The fielding on the day was also way below par as Dhawan, at square leg, dropped Khawaja, who tried a reverse sweep, while batting on 17 off Jadeja&#39;s bowling.</div>

	Kohli, Kedar and Bumrah were all guilty of slip-ups on the field which also released the pressure on the visitors.</div>

	With the pitch on offer being the best in three games, the Australian openers showed positive intent from the start.</div>

	The momentum shifted from there on as both Finch and Khawaja played the spin troika brilliantly.Both Finch and Khawaja and later Maxwell used big front-foot strides to counter the spinners. Whenever Kedar tossed it up, Finch cleared his front leg and fetched it from outside the off-stump, swatting him over deep mid-wicket.</div>

	If he bowled with a side-arm lower trajectory, Finch would rock back and play him square off the wicket. In case of Jadeja, the inside-out shot and the cut was used liberally by Khawaja and Maxwell.</div>

India vs Australia 3rd ODI preview: Kohli must rectify top order conundrum

After winning first two games of five-match series, Indian cricket team will be aiming for an unassailable 3-0 lead when they meet Australia in the third One Day International (ODI) at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday. Indian team is grappling with a few teething issues regarding its top-order batting, especially senior opener Shikhar Dhawan&#39;s poor form. Despite Dhawan&#39;s below-par performance in last 15 ODIs with only two half-centuries, India are unlikely to tinker with the winning playing 11 of the first two encounters. K L Rahul is back in form and he may have to wait till India clinch the series, but the team management could well try him out at the No. 3 position. If Dhawan is persisted with, the best way is to give Rahul at least three games before the all-important world cup.<br />

	Mahendra Singh Dhoni&#39;s final homecoming forms a poignant subplot of an utterly dominant Indian team&#39;s quest for an unassailable 3-0 lead in the third ODI against Australia at JSCA International Stadium Complex on Friday.<br />
	<br />
	A 3-0 lead in the five-match series will be a perfect parting gift for Ranchi&#39;s favourite son, who, in all likelihood, will be seen wearing the India Blues for the last time at his home ground.<br />
	<br />
	There has been a sense of dj vu every time Dhoni has stepped on to the field in the ongoing series. It reminded many of Tendulkar&#39;s penultimate Test series against Australia in 2013, when the cheer from the stands would amplify with each passing match.<br />
	<br />
	Something similar has been happening at every ground in this series, with the fans possibly beginning to realise that the legend may not be around when India next play at home.</div>
