ISL 2018-19: Mumbai City FC best FC Pune City 2-0 in Maha derby win

The teams have faced each other eight times and Pune have won five of those derbies while Mumbai City FC could win only twice

Minute 52 -- Arnold plays Bastos inside the box who looks to cut it back for Sougou but it's cut short

Minute 47 -- Pune get a chance with Robin Singh competely miscuing his tap-in in the Mumbai box. Mumbai start a counter but Arnold's shot from distance was never going to trouble the keeper

Half-time report: Mumbai City FC are leading 2-0 at half-time in front of their home fans at the Mumbai Football Arena against their derby rivals FC Pune City after a 25th minute goal from Sougou and a late goal from the penalty spot.
 
Although, Pune City FC will rue the chances missed, the first of which came as early as the first minute when Alfaro failed to head home a Fanai cross from the left wing. Although, the striker did have a legitimate call for a foul turned down in the 40th minute when he was clipped from behind while darting inside the box.
 
Despite leading 2-0, Mumbai City haven't exactly been the better team as both teams failed to create enough goalscoring chances. In fact, both the Mumbai goals had fate written all over it, although to their credit, they did take those chances well.
 
The first Mumbai goal came in the 24th minute when, a hopeful cross on to the far post from the left corner bounced back off the bar and into the box. Sougou reacted the fastest to blast home the easy chance. 
 
In the 43rd minute, the referee called for the first penalty kick of the season when Lalchhuanmawia Fanai went on a two-footed challenge on Sougou inside the box. Rafael Bastos took the spot kick and went down the middle while goalkeeper Kaith dived to his left, thus doubling his team's lead before half-time.

Minute 43 (PENALTY!!) -- It's first penalty of the season and it's against Pune City after Lalchhuanmawia Fanai goes on a two-footed challenge on Sougou. Lalchhuanmawia is also brandished a yellow card

Minute 24 (GOAL!!) -- Modou Sougou scores!! Mumbai lead 1-0 against Pune. A hopeful cross on to the far post from the left corner finds the bar and bounces back into the box. Sougou reacts the fastest to blast home the easy and fortuitous chance
