ISL 2018-19: ATK get off the mark with 2-1 win over Delhi Dynamos FC

The win takes ATK to the sixth spot with three points after three games while Delhi Dynamos sit on the eight spot with a draw and a loss to their name this season

Minute 56 -- Delhi get a free-kick right outside the box but Mihelic's free-kick is over the crossbar and dips too late

Minute 52 (GOAL!!) -- Pritam Kotal heads a goal in and it's 1-1. A corner is headed into the far past where Kotal puts on the finishing touch to put Delhi level with ATK at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium

Minute 48 -- Thatal has been very very lively, and may I add, very fast down that right flank today and he does it again when he flies past a couple challenges but as before the final pass is lacking and this time too, fails to find Uche inside the box

Half-time report: Before the start of the game, ATK head coach Steve Coppell had stressed on the importance of hardwork, and said his team "intend to put a lot in" and "get a lot out" in the game against Delhi Dynamos FC at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

 

True to his words, ATK put on a shift in the first half, running around the pitch boisterously and putting pressure on the home team, so much so that Delhi were firmly planted into their own half for most part of the first half. The visitors also have a goal to show for it.

 

It came in the 20th minute through the right leg of Balwant Singh. Delhi gave away the ball after a sloppy play and Balwant got the ball inside the box on the left and turned inside out to take out a defender before putting his effort into the top-right corner with a curler.

 

ATK are on the front-foot and some fine work at the back has saved Delhi till now. But the home team would need their men up front also to deliver a similar performance if they intend to earn all three points, or at least one, from this game. As for ATK, they need to do what they are doing and a maiden win is just a matter of 45 minutes or so.
