Tom Moody on SRH’s approach in their remaining two league matches

Moody insisted that last year's losing finalists SRH, who need a win to stay in the hunt for a play-off spot, will approach the game at the Wankhede Stadium as they had done from the beginning without putting pressure on themselves.

"For us, this game is no different from our first game of the tournament. It's an important game like every game in this tournament is. We all know that this is a tough competition, so our approach is certainly no different.

"We are not putting ourselves under any additional pressure. That's not gonna (going to) do us any good. We just need to make sure that we compete for 40 overs," he remarked.

We have our plans for Hardik Pandya: Tom Moody

Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody is confident that his team would be able to successfully execute their plans and stop Mumbai Indians' impact player Hardik Pandya, when the two teams lock horns in an IPL encounter. "There are a number of players playing in the tournament like Hardik - they are impact players, dangerous players. The bottom line is you need to remove them, you need to get them out because if they spend time in the middle, they are going to hurt you," said Moody at the media conference.

Moody said that they have certain plans ready for Hardik. "We have our plans set for the likes of Hardik. (Kieron) Pollard is another one, who can cause havoc at the back-end of T20 games," added Moody.

Pollard on Warner-less Sunrisers Hyderabad

Pollard said that David Warner's absence will help MI when they take on SRH in a bid to secure a spot in the playoffs.

"It's an advantage, obviously. David (Warner) is a world-class player. He has shown what he can do. He was an integral part of Sunrisers Hyderabad's campaign. So, as an opponent, we feel good that he is not there. But having said that, I am sure they have a lot of world-class talent in their armoury to back it up.

"There is (Martin) Guptill who has done fantastically well in the international level. Yes, they have lost Warner, but we are not going to take them lightly," Pollard said.

"We all know it's a pressure game, that's the nature of the IPL. So as players you don't want to put additional pressure on yourselves going into the last couple of games. You just want to be calm and collected," Pollard said about how his team will approach the game in which a victory would pilot them into the playoffs.

Here’s what Pollard said about Hardik Pandya

Kieron Pollard on Wednesday heaped praise on his Mumbai Indians (MI) teammate Hardik Pandya, saying the fellow all-rounder has the potential to do 'great things' for India. "He is a small guy but hits (the ball) a long way. If he continues to practice well and evolve as a cricketer, you can see him doing great things, not just for Mumbai Indians, but also for India," Pollard said about Pandya on the eve of MI's Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Pandya, who has so far amassed 355 runs in 12 IPL games this season, scored a blistering 91 off 34 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in MI's last game on Sunday.

"He's not practising differently. It is all about believing in his ability. Obviously the situations he has been in, he had no choice but to go and hit and he has shown his powergame as well, so it's good for him. Even when he came onto the scene, if you remember, he finished off a couple of games for Mumbai (Indians) with his big hits.

"It is matter of him having the confidence because he is one of those guys who is free-spirited and will just go out and try to use his youthful exuberance to make an impact on the game," Pollard explained.

"I am sure that even if there is something technical that he has worked on, he wouldn't want to put that out in the media. If he is working on his game, he does it in private. He wants you guys to see the results of his hard work," he added.

Here’s what happened when SRH hosted MI

In Match 19 of VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL 2019), young West Indies pacer Alzzari Joseph made a dream IPL debut by recording the best bowling figures in IPL’s history as Mumbai Indians (MI) picked up an unexpected 40-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a low-scoring game at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Keiron Pollard hammered an unbeaten 46 off 26 balls, helping Mumbai Indians recover to 136 for seven after an ordinary start. While Pollard was the stand out batsman, another West Indian in Joseph made all the difference in the bowling department, ending with sensational figures of six for 12 in 3.4 overs, bettering the effort of Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir, who had taken six for 14 in the inaugural IPL edition in 2008. Hyderabad were all out for 96 in 17.4 overs. It was the third win for Mumbai Indians in five games while Hyderabad suffered their second loss in five matches. Considering the stellar form of openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, 137 was expected to be a comfortable chase for Hyderabad. But they both were dismissed cheaply and that exposed the middle order which had not been tested much courtesy the devastating run of the openers. It was the first time this season that Hyderabad lost a wicket in the first six overs.

Young West Indies pacer Joseph bowled a dream first over in the IPL, dismissing Warner in a wicket maiden. In his following over, the 22-year-old got rid of Vijay Shankar to leave Hyderabad at 43 for three in seven overs and spice up the contest. Check SRH vs MI highlights here

Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be aiming for two crucial points and boost their chances of making it to the playoffs when they take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Sunrisers are placed at the fourth spot with 12 points, just below Mumbai who have 14 points from 12 games. In their last match against Kings XI Punjab, SRH had secured a comfortable 45-run win at home riding on the heroics of David Warner. However, with Warner gone, the Kane Williamson-led side will have to reassess their strategy, especially in the batting department. Martin Guptil, in all likelihood, will come into the playing XI and Williamson will be hoping that he scores big just like Warner and gives them a solid start.

On the other hand, Mumbai lost their last encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders by 34 runs, and thus would be desperate for a win to confirm their berth in the playoffs. With their bowlers going for plenty against KKR, skipper Rohit Sharma will be hoping for a better performance from his bowling unit which comprises of Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga. The pitch at the Wankhede, like always, has been batting friendly and batters will again have a good time in the middle.
