DC vs PBKS live updates: PITCH REPORT

Here's what Simon Doull said in the pitch report:

This Wankhede pitch looks a bit drier, there's not as much moisture as the last game. There will be less seam movement as compared to the previous matches. 11 wickets have fallen in the four games of powerplay, so the teams need to get through the powerplay overs watchfully.

Tackling dew is one of the major factors, says Nortje

Ahead of the game against Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje said that tackling the dew will be one of the challenges at the Wankhede pitch in Mumbai.

South African pacer joined the team bubble on Friday after three Covid-19 negative test results. The pacer had got a false COVID-19 positive result which saw him having to stay in quarantine for longer even as teammate Kagiso Rabada came out and was a part of the game against Rajasthan Royals.

"Yeah, it is very good. Tired of the room, 10 days was quite a lot for me but it was nice to get out. Nice to sweat a bit and run around a bit and bowl a bit," Nortje said in a video posted on DC's official Twitter handle.

When asked about the knowledge of Mumbai conditions he said, "No, we definitely don't know but I think we can just assess as quickly as possible and understand what not to do and what we have to do. I think generally the dew has played a big role so hopefully, we can sort of try and be ahead of the dew. And what we have to do when it does come and when it's not there. I think that's probably one of the major factors besides the actual wicket."

Delhi vs Punjab match preview

After a disheartening loss against Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals (DC) would look to get back on track against a Punjab Kings (PBKS) side that is coming off a demoralising loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The Rishabh Pant-led DC side which got off to a flying start by thrashing CSK in the first match suffered a meltdown in the next match on Thursday as they lost to Rajasthan Royals despite having them on the mat at 42 for five.

By allowing RR to chase down 147 after reducing them to 42 for five, DC revealed a serious inability to finish off the match.

PBKS, on the other hand, had a miserable outing on Friday night against CSK who restricted the K.L. Rahul-led Punjab franchise to just 106/8 in 20 overs and then cruised to a six-wicket win.

PBKS have been inconsistent with the bat so far. While they got off to a flying start in the first match, making 221 with stupendous batting performances from skipper Rahul and Deepak Hooda, they fell flat against the swing bowling of Deepak Chahar on Friday night.

They will have their task cut out against a DC pace bowling line-up that comprises Kagiso Rabada. Anrich Nortje, who has been cleared after a Covid-19 scare could share the new ball with Rabada although young Madhya Pradesh pacer Avesh Khan has impressed in the first two outings.

PBKS's biggest concern would be the form of their opener Mayank Agarwal, who has failed in both the matches so far.
