Mumbai Indians acquired just four players on day one and thus with more than 25 crores in the bank, they would want to go bog. Given their pedigree they can go for Nathan-Coulter Nile who was with them in the previous season and would also look to get spinners and thus Under-19 star Vicky Ostwal and domestic star Krishnappa Gpowtham come into the fray. IPL 2022 Auction Live Day 2: Unsold players who could attract bidders in accelerated auction

 

Day 1 of the Indian Premier League saw only 74 players being sold and a lot were left unsold which included big names like Suresh Raina, David Miller and former Australia captain Steve Smith. IPL 2022 Auction Live Day 2: Labuschagne and Livingstone are multi-utility

 

Liam Livingstone of England and Marnus Labuschagne of Australia are two all-rounders that are rated highly in two extremes i.e. T20 cricket and Test cricket. However, Labuschagne over the years has shown that he is not a One-Dimensional player and can in fact be a multi-utility player in the shortest format.

 

South Africa born Australian Labuschagne is a more than decent leg spinner and can be made a make shift opener if not given his ideal number three position to anchor the innings. Livingstone on the other hand can bowl off-spin to left-handers and leg-spin to right-handers as well as hit the cricket ball farthest if put in a competition with anyone on the planet.

Devon Conway has so far played 115 T20s and the South Africa born New Zealand player has a stunning average of 43.77 and a strike rate of 128, a perfect balance for an opener in the T20s. He has to his name two hundred and 28 fifties and can very well keep wickets as well giving an all-round utility. He is someone that could and should go for big bucks as he is one of the most consistent batters in all conditions be it opening or playing in the middle order.

The Indian U19 stars will be a hot commodity today as was evidenced by the bidding for South Africa U19 star Dewald Brevbis who was bought for Rs 3.2 Cr by Mumbai Indians. It should therefore not be surprising if a Yash Dhull or a Raj Angad Bawa or a Vicky Ostwal becomes a  Crorepati overnight. 

 

While Dhull has leadership qualities if groomed properly, Bawa can be that genuine all-rounder that India has been in search of ever since Kapil Dev retired.
