HARYANA STEELERS: TOO MUCH RELIANCE ON BONUS POINTS
HARYANA STEELERS: TOO MUCH RELIANCE ON BONUS POINTS
• Haryana’s three main raiders have a combined 199 raid points so far this season. Vikas Kandola leads the way with 81 followed by Monu Goyat with 69 and debutant Naveen with 49.
• Once Naveen touches the 50-point mark Haryana will be one of only two teams this season to have 3 raiders with 50 or more raid points (UP Yoddha are the other).
• So, Haryana’s raiding unit has been consistently getting them points in every game.
• 35% of those raid points have come from Bonus Points however for Haryana.
• Vikas Kandola has 40% of his raid points from Bonus Points while for Monu Goyat and Naveen it is 35% and 20% respectively.
• Haryana score 7 Bonus Points per game on average.
• Because of continuous bonus points they are not able to inflict all-outs on opposition teams and also couldn’t revive their own players as bonus points doesn’t give revival.
• Haryana have faced 18 all-outs in PKL 6, which is the most by a team in PKL 6, while managed to inflict just 6 all-outs in 11 games.

• Vikas Kandola is Haryana’s leading raid point scorer this season with 81 raid points in 11 games.
• Both of Haryana’s lead raiders will have to win their battle against Fazel if Haryana are to have a chance of victory.

FAZEL ATRACHALI vs HARYANA’s TOP RAIDERS
• Another nice little battle to watch out for is the battle of the two captains – Fazel Atrachali vs Monu Goyat and Vikas Kandola.
• Monu Goyat leads their head-to-head 7-6 and has done well against Fazel this season too in their two encounters (4-3).
• Fazel had only 3 tackle points in the match against Gujarat with a couple of those coming right at the end. It was also his tackle that Mahendra Rajput escaped from to get a Super Raid in the final 5 minutes to swing the match in Gujarat’s favour.
• Fazel Atrachali is the leading tackle point scorer now in PKL 6 with 41 tackle points to his name. He remains one of only 3 defenders to have an average of 4 or more tackle points per game.

• Siddharth Desai became the fastest to reach 100 raid points in PKL on Saturday when he reached that milestone against the Gujarat Fortunegiants. He now jointly holds this record with Rahul Chaudhari as both have managed to do it in their 9th match.

• It was another Super 10 for Siddharth, his 7th of the season, and his 12 raid points saw him become the new leading raid point scorer of PKL 6.

• But his Super 10 wasn’t enough as U Mumba lost a close match to Gujarat by 2 points. The Gujarat defence could not do much about Siddharth Desai, but they did a fine job of keeping the other raiders quiet.
o He injured his shoulder yet again in the last few minutes and was not using his left-hand during his last few raids.
o However, U Mumba have showed in past by winning 2 games without Desai that they are not dependent on a single player.
• The other U Mumba raiders (excl. Siddharth) against Gujarat scored just 7 raid points from 23 raids. Rohit Baliyan scored 5 of these while Abhishek Singh and Darshan Kadian had just 1 each.
• U Mumba are one of the best raiding teams in PKL 6 boasting the lowest raid failure rate (18%).
• The U Mumba raiders will therefore be eager to make up for that and on Sunday they are up against the worst defensive team in the league in Haryana Steelers.

Team Name | Failed Tackle % | Tackle SR |
Haryana Steelers | 70% | 33 |
Patna Pirates | 66% | 36 |
Tamil Thalaivas | 65% | 39 |
• Haryana have the highest tackle failure rate (70%) this season and also have the lowest tackle SR (33). They have the lowest average tackle points as well (8.6). By any measure the Steelers have the worst defence in the league.
• One of the major reasons for this has been their defensive line being mostly comprised of untested players who don’t have much experience prior to PKL 6.
• Of the defenders used most by Haryana, only Sachin Shingade has played more than 30 career PKL games. None of the other defenders have played even 20.

• Sachin Shingade despite being the most experienced has the highest tackle failure rate in the team (71%). Three of Haryana’s five most used defenders have a tackle strike rate less than 35.
• In the two meetings prior in PKL 6 U Mumba have scored 29 and 27 raid points. They will be relishing the opportunity to take on this Haryana defence again.
• Siddharth Desai could well sit out tomorrow’s game as he seemed to have aggravated the shoulder injury during the match against Gujarat.
• The other raiders in that case will be even keener to step up
