HP has claimed leadership position in the worldwide notebook PC market, while further strengthening its leadership position in India with 33.8 per cent market share, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). |
HP's unit shipments for the notebook segment worldwide grew nearly 21 per cent quarter-on-quarter, almost 1.4 times the industry growth rate, according to the analyst firm's fourth quarter analysis. |
Additionally, the company's quarter-on-quarter growth rate was more than five times its nearest competitor's. |
"HP enters what it has declared the 'Year for Mobility' by leading the market in this high-growth segment while also increasing profitability," said Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager, Mobile Computing, HP. |
"The market has confirmed HP as the mobile vendor of choice and these results further reinforce our place in the notebook business," he added. |
Speaking on HP's performance in India, Ravi Swaminathan, vice-president, Personal Systems Group, HP India Sales said: "HP continues to strive in the direction of providing superior products, enhanced reach and excellent after-sales service even in the B and C cities.
