A new Aura for e-reading

Kobo Aura HD e-Reader

Anita Babu
The new Kobo Aura HD e-Reader is a portable, lightweight (240g) alternative to heavy books. The ultra-high clarity screen facilitates reading.

At Rs 13,999, the Canadian e-Reader comes with a no-glare Pearl E-Ink touch screen, reminiscent of a book leaf.

It has front light and a 4GB memory, expandable up to 32GB. The 6.8-inch device has 1,440x1,080-pixel display.

The battery may last 24 hours on one-time charge. And the Wi-fi helps: The reader can explore an author's works on the net to enhance his understanding. But it would have been better with 3G, supported by the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 3G.

The device has a dictionary, with nine language options: English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Brazilian, Portuguese and Japanese.

When bored of reading, you may play chess or use the Sketch pad.

Also, one can share quotations using 'Share on Facebook'.

The device provides reading statistics.

Despite its high price, it is in black and white.

Verdict
If you are in search of a new reading device, and if you can reconcile to the black and white screen, then the Kobo Aura HFDeReader is worth considering.
