Mobile enterprise solutions developer AccelTree Software has unveiled FRED, a software that promises to improve the productivity of the field staff of organisations significantly via better connectivity to their offices. |
The company used technology that enables mobile phones to log into servers to access enterprise database and extract or add information. |
Announcing this, AccelTree CEO Vivek Mannige said the software is suitable for banking and insurance companies with large sales and service networks, and logistics and pharmaceutical companies that deploy large teams on the field. |
"In a departure from the norm of mobile solutions, which are expensive, complex and hard to operate, FRED is extremely user-friendly as it separates technology and business logic," said Mannige. |
"The software will result in lower travel cost, savings in time, reduced paper work and higher productivity for the organisations," Manninge said. FRED is technology independent, and works on the smallest of mobile phones. It occupies just 57 KB (kilobyte) memory space on a mobile phone chip. |
The software works on all technologies including GPRS, SMS, CDMA, PDA, and smartphones. The solution was developed over a three-year period at a cost Rs 5.5 crore, Manninge added. |
He added FRED could be put to good use by collection agents of dairy businesses, field personnel of lending organisations, post sales service staff and courier boys to get information from their office and report data back that for faster decision making and execution. |
Commenting on the pricing of the solution, Mannige said the company will pitch for a price of Rs 1,800 per user and will look at a minimum user base of 100. |
"We are open to pay-per-use pricing too, if there is the critical mass of users," he said. The company has already signed up two clients and is in talks with more organisations, he informed, adding that the transaction cost can be as low as 50 paise per transaction. |
AccelTree will also offer technical know-how to rural users like agri-produce co-operatives, milk societies, micro finance organisations and self-help groups for better use of technology advantages of the technology. |
Mannige said mobile handset manufacturers have shown keen interest and offered to design low cost user options. |
The company is also discussing with IBM Global Services Singapore office for a channel partner arrangement to take FRED across the world, he disclosed. |
