Accenture Technology Labs, the technology research and development (R&D) organisation within Accenture is on a drive to make its Bangalore R&D lab a central provider of service-oriented architecture (SOA) in IT infrastructure, collaborative software designs and performance engineering for clients across the globe. |
The company presently has four technology labs located at Chicago and Silicon Valley in the US, Sophia Antipolis in France and at Bangalore. |
Accenture will be piloting its innovations from all labs directly with delivery teams located in Bangalore before rolling them out to some 40 Accenture delivery centers globally. |
In India, Accenture's delivery centres are located in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. |
For expanding its operations in Bangalore, it is planning to raise headcount from around 40-100 employees in the next year and half. Globally, the technology labs employ over 180 R&D professionals. |
"We have over 10 pilot innovations being tested at our Bangalore lab as of now and a tremendous expansion in terms of innovations and employee count are set to happen in the near future," said Lin Chase, senior vice president, technology R&D India. |
Recent projects in the Bangalore lab for Accenture include global communications accelerator, repository navigation tool and virtual collaborative software design among others. |
Global communications accelerator which is a collaboration toolset developed by Accenture Technology Labs in tandem with the India delivery center has been built to enable better teamwork and communication between remote project teams. |
Chase opined that the Indian lab could see a lot of R&D concentration being put into SOA. One of the projects taken up by the Bangalore lab is a study on the impact of SOAs on IT infrastructure, including its performance, manageability and security vulnerabilities. |
