Global market information major ACNielsen will commence research on domestic IT industry, focusing primarily on the small and medium business (SMB) segment.

This would be in addition to retail and customised researches that the agency is conducting on the domestic market.

"The Indian market has two core advantages " an increasing presence of multinationals and an upswing in the IT exports. This is the right time to start studies on the IT sector in the country. The country is also a major hub for IT-enabled Services (ITeS) and business process outsourcing (BPO)," said Travyn Rhall, managing director, (customised research services, Asia-Pacific).

Moreover, the domestic expenditure on IT sector is expected to grow around 15-20 per cent in a couple of years, he added.

It intends to do research on IT companies, including ITeS, BPO, products and services companies.

This would also include market research and consulting services for technology companies, including business strategies, multi-country new market opportunities, business sizing and forecasting, competitive assessment and product development and lifecycles among others.

Even though ACNielsen conducts commissioned studies on IT sector in the country for big clients, this would be first time it is focusing on the Indian SMB sector.
