Adobe Systems is planning to make its SaaS (software-as-a-service) platform available in India by this year.
Launching Adobe’s creative suite 5.5 (CS 5.5) product line here, Prabhjeet Singh, country marketing manager (India), Adobe Systems, said they were looking at subscription as a model.
CS 5.5 would introduce the subscription option, which would be available by this year. The user would have the option to buy it online and use it for monthly or hourly usage. Adobe’s creative suite 5.5 creates content for tablets and smartphones and video is one of the major platform.
Smartphones and tablets are going to overtake personal computers. Around 100.9 million smartphones were shipped to India in the fourth quarter last year.
He said film industry, knowledge process outsourcing units and outsourcing firms in South Indiaprovided a major market. Adobe CS 5.5 would be available in India by May this year.
Adobe has its second largest research and development (R&D) centre outside of the US in India at Bangalore and Noida, and employs 1,800 professionals in both the centres. “We have aggressive plans to ramp up the headcount,” he said.
