Airtel today launched its services in Lahaul, a remote tribal district of Himachal Pradesh, thus connecting it to rest of the country.

"Airtel services have been launched in Keylong, the district headquarters of the Lahaul & Spiti district, and now the airtel services will be available in and around Keylong," said R V SBhullar, Airtel Himachal Pradesh chief.

The tribal district remained cut off from rest of the country for over half a year due to heavy snowfall over the high passes leading to the region.

Besides, being a summer tourist destination, Lahaul is also en route to Leh and Ladakh in the neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir via the 480-km-long Manali-Leh highway.
