An easy to miss breeze

Vipul Vivek
Popular monitor maker AOC's big Breeze would hardly make a rustle. For, despite its low price, the 9.7-inch device's average features fail to grab your attention.

The budget tablet looks premium with its white back panel and black bezel and edges made of rubberised hard plastic. It's easy to handle, boots quickly and the capacitive touchscreen response is OK though it's a bit heavy. The top right corner has the volume and escape buttons, while on the right-hand side you have the power button; the USB and HDMI ports; the microSD slot; and the 3.5mm earphone jack. The device comes with an OTG cable and doesn't take a USB charger.

Breeze doesn't support Bluetooth and GPS, a big disappointment. The XVGA screen resolution is pretty average and the front and rear cameras are no great shakes. The front one is at the top right corner and the back camera, located almost exactly behind it, is adjacent to the speakers.

The tablet runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean with few tweaks and doesn't have a lot of pre-loaded apps. It has a built-in flash memory of 16GB, of which 12.5GB is available for use, an expandable storage of up to 32GB with a microSD card, 1GB RAM and a 1.5GHz processor. So, playing memory-intensive games wouldn't be a problem given the device is being charged, if the internet is also on simultaneously. Yes, the 7,000mAh battery does not make life easier. Another disappointment.
