The launch of the Acer Aspire 1362 NLC Notebook at less than Rs 36,000 signifies a bold attempt to initiate a price war and grab market share in the home and student segments. Students can get an additional rebate of Rs 2,500.

The Aspire 1362 NLC is an entry-level notebook. It comes equipped with a 15-inch TFT screen. It is powered by an AMD 2800 Sempron processor and it has 256 MB DDR RAM and a 40 GB HDD.

The notebook offers comfortable connectivity with four USB ports, along with a 24 X CD RW Combo optical drive. It runs off a Linux operating system and comes with a one-year warranty. Despite the bargain price, the notebook has a smart design with sculpted edges and a nice finish.

Object of technolust

The Philips 300WN5 LCD monitor is network-controlled for remote management with the facility to automatically adjust brightness with ambient conditions and generate an alert when the monitor overheats.

It has low power consumption and a longer life cycle. The monitor is high definition television (HDTV) ready and offers features such as picture in picture (PIP), thus allowing the watching of a second source simultaneously.

The monitor offers WXGA 1280X 768 resolution, easy plug and play DVI and it comes with a three-year warranty. With a price-tag of Rs 2 lakh plus, this is an object of pure technolust.

The Kodak LS755 digital camera fits comfortably into the palm of the hand "� it's about the size of a deck of playing cards. The LS755 features a professional Schneider-Kreuznach C-Variogon 3X (36 "� 108 mm equivalent) zoom lens and 5.0 megapixel CCD sensor and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. It has splendid digital features, including the ability to place pictures in an on-camera digital photo album for viewing and sharing.

The Kodak EasyShare Photo Frame Dock provides one-touch picture transfer to a computer and helps keep the battery charged. The camera's VGA and QVGA video functionality benefits from full 3X optical zoom with image stabilisation and continuous auto focus.

A time-lapse video option stitches together up to 10,000 separate frames taken over months! Video length, which can reach up to 80 minutes depending on total memory capacity (16 MB internal memory; memory card expansion slot), can also be edited using in-camera controls.

The patented share button allows users to select pictures for printing or e-mail sharing, with an e-mail address book on the camera. Available in India for around Rs 22,000.
