The Andhra Pradesh government today indicated that it was contemplating the setting up of an animation academy in the state to meet the growing demand of animation professionals.

"The animation industry in India is worth Rs 64,000 crore. To support this growing sector we are seriously contemplating the setting up of an animation academy in the state," chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said today at the two-day Nasscom Animation India 2005 summit being held here.

"This apart, we are also inviting foreign companies to set up their studios in the state as they can get advantages of reduced costs, quality infrastructure and congenial political environment," Reddy added.

"We are already working on the infrastructure aspect by developing a 160-km outer ring road on the outskirts of the city where 12 satellite towns are being constructed. From April 1, 2005, power tariffs for industries will also be reduced by about four per cent," he added.
