Applied Materials to expand in India

A subsidiary of the optical storage media manufacturer Moser Baer India Ltd, MBPV had partnered Applied Materials to manufacture thin film solar modules that are ideal for running energy farms, rural applications and for Building Integrated Photo Voltaic (BIPV) markets.

Accordingly, Applied Materials had established its Sunfab Solar Module Production Line at the facility.

 

MBPV's current manufacturing capacity is 40 Mw and it plans to increase it to 600 Mw by 2010.

"As Moser Baer is talking about starting another production line, we have started talks with it," Madhusudan V Atre, president, Applied Materials India Private Limited, told reporters here.

Atre said the capacity enhancement at Moser Baer facility will be completed within six months. This apart, Applied Materials is also holding talks with other Indian companies that are keen on producing solar energy.
