After its plea for refund of Rs 135 crore was turned down by TDSAT, Bharti is gearing up to approach the Supreme Court against the ruling. "We are filing an appeal in the Supreme Court against the ruling," Bharti group CMD Sunil Mittal said. TDSAT had, in March this year, dismissed Bharti's petition for refund of Rs 135 crore paid by it as licence fees for entry into basic services prior to the new uniform licencing regime introduced by the government. Bharti had moved TDSAT after its plea was rejected by the department of telecommunications (DoT) saying the entry fee was non-refundable. Bharti had surrendered five basic service licences - Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh - following the government decision to issue unified access licences. |
