BPL Mobile launches new CRT service

Mobile phone service provider BPL Mobile has launched a caller ring tune (CRT) service "� My FX "� in Tamil Nadu.

My FX is a unique network feature that replaces the standard ring-back tones with any sound effect the subscriber chooses using a simple, multi-criteria customisation process.

Now BPL Mobile subscribers (both prepaid and postpaid) can assign a My FX (CRT) in the form of a normal ring tone, music clips, sound effects, jokes, news, personal voice or combination of these.

Mohamed Saleem, chief operating officer (south), BPL Mobile, said in a press release, "At present, the VAS (value added services) segment constitutes about 13 per cent of our revenue. With the launch of My FX and other VAS to follow, we expect the revenue contribution of VAS to perk up to 20 per cent."

A monthly subscription charge of Rs 30 will be levied for activation besides Rs 15 for every download.

Over four lakh BPL Mobile subscribers in Tamil Nadu would now enjoy BPL Mobile's latest generation network feature to decide what a caller will hear during interconnection instead of the regular electronic call tone.

BPL Mobile has over 2 million subscribers across 209 cities and has its presence in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Goa.
