Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) may acquire the assets of international long distance telephone operator Data Access to recover dues amounting to about Rs 200 crore. Senior officials of BSNL said the PSU had filed 27 cases against Data Access. "BSNL would do everything to get its money back from Data Access including accessing its assets. In international telephony, three to six months collection time is applicable. We have been tough as a company. No outbound traffic was given to Data Access," they said. They added that BSNL officers across the country will value the assets of Data Access. The possibility of recovering the money, however, is remote as the private company is in the process of liquidation. The latest report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) stated that BSNL was suffering a loss of Rs 220 crore. |
