BSNL is planning to set up international long distance (ILD) gateways by July in five major cities including the four metros. "When we set up our own gateways in July this year, our dependence on Bharti, Reliance and VSNL will be reduced. We use their infrastructure at present for routing calls to various global destinations depending upon their rates for those regions," A K Sinha, CMD of BSNL, said. Sinha said BSNL has already started its ILD services, and using its own gateways would strengthen its position in the fiercely competitive segment. The PSU is also in talks with foreign carriers for direct collaborations, he added. |
