Canon India has announced its foray into the peripheral security market by making security an integral component of its imaging and printing devices and solutions. |
The launch of Canon's security solutions is aimed at addressing the growing need for organisations to have a secure networked imaging and printing infrastructure. Canon estimates this market to be Rs 235 crore and aims to increase its marketshare to 40 per cent from its current 27 per cent over the next one year. |
Said, Lakshmi Narayana Rao, assistant director, Marketing, Office System Solutions (Value Division) Canon India: "Imaging and printing devices have gained levels of sophistication comparable to network servers and workstations, and should be managed as such. The networked imaging and printing infrastructure has today become a critical component of the office infrastructure and attacks against unsecured network communications can result in loss of confidential data and productivity." |
The security solutions include enabling/disabling protocols, print job accounting, secure print, mailbox printing and overwrite protection. |
Canon India hopes to touch a topline of Rs 325 crore for the current calender year from Rs 264 crore registered during 2004. The Value Division expects to chip in with close to Rs 90 crore during 2005. |
