Networking solution provider Cisco is planning to tap 14 non-metro cities in India and accelerate its presence in the small and medium businesses (SMBs) across segments.

“The IT spending in India is expected to reach $79.8 billion in 2012, where spending by SMB units will see a robust growth. So, in the coming years our focus would be more on the SMBs of the non-metro markets,” Pramodh Menon, president (partner business group), Cisco India & Saarc (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation), said addressing the media here on Tuesday.

SMBs account for 80 per cent of Cisco’s customers in India. “Our SMB business is doubling every year. Also, there is a huge scope in Tier II and upcountry markets. We want to tap those markets by expanding and strengthening our reach through focused market development programs and customised products,” he said.

The company is also in the process of developing India-specific products catering to SMBs.
