Cognizant chosen 'Best US company in India'

Nasdaq-listed IT services major Cognizant has been chosen as the 'Best US company in India' for 2005 by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC).

The company received the honour as part of the first Indo-American Corporate Excellence (I-ACE) awards instituted by the IACC, a release said.

Cognizant was selected for the award, based on its financial performance, human capital development, corporate social responsibility and its steller contribution to Indo-US business, it said.

The award was presented to Cognizant by Angus T Simmons, the United States Consul General in Mumbai.

Lakshmi Naryanan, president and CEO of Cognizant's said, it was a great honour for cognizant to receive this award.

"This is a prestigious recognition of our unique global business model, which includes high-touch customer relationship building and execution excellence. It is also a tribute to our customers, employees and other stakeholders, and a validation of cognizant's leadership status amongst
global it services firms," he said.

Farokh T Balsara, chairman of the jury, I-ACE awards said: "We commend Cognizant for its stellar contribution to the Indo-American Trade and Commerce and for winning the overall best US company in India award."
