Consultancies queue for HP's 1st IT park

At least twelve companies have shown interest in providing consultancy services for preparing a plan and costs for setting up Himachal Pradesh's first Information Technology (IT) park at Waknaghat in Solan district. These include DLF Universal Ltd, Gurgaon, Parsvanath Developers, New Delhi, SKIL Infrastructure Ltd, Mumbai, RVRCL Infrastructure, Hyderabad, Uppal Housing Pvt Ltd, New Delhi, Maheshwari Mega Ventures Ltd, Hyderabad and Omaxe Infrastructure City Development, New Delhi, among others.

The park will be spread over 106 acres at Waknaghat, located 23 km on the Shimla-Kalka national highway. The IT department has already acquired the patch of land at Waknaghat. Officials say the IT park will involve an initial expense of Rs 300 crore in the first stage.

The state government plans to set up five IT parks at Waknaghat, Nalagarh in Solan district, Palampur and Nurpur in Kangra district and Dalhousie in Chamba district.
