Leading laptop seller Dell India has said it is planning to invest in the IT solution sector in the major cities of the state, which currently generate $14 million business every year in terms of IT expenditure.

The company has been targeting small and medium business firms in second and third tier cities since last year, especially in western and souther part of the country. It now wants to expand its business to Orissa, anchoring on opportunities available in urban centres like twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, a company official said.

“According to our estimate, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have at least 16,000 small and medium business (SMB) houses and can use our enterprise solution services. We will target the large base of manufacturing, banking and construction firms here,” said Rekuram Varadharaj, marketing manager for medium business of Dell India said.

The company will provide the storage, server and networking needs of the SMBs, along with cloud computing services, in association with its partners such as Microsoft and SAP. And to convince the business houses in the state, Dell India has plans to take the assistance of the local chambers of commerce.

“We have plans to discuss with the officials of Utkal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) officials, who will encourage SMBs in the state to opt for enterprise-focused IT services. With our ability to translate technology to actual business needs amid affordable prices, we can be true partner in their business growth,” Varadharaj said.
