Even as Dell India continues to build its focus on small and medium businesses (SMBs) and enhances its outreach to mid-market customers, the company is looking at tier II cities of Gujarat for offering end-to-end technology solutions. Among the tier II cities, the company is planning to enhance its offerings for SMBs in Surat, Vadodara and Vapi.

According to Avik Rudra, senior product consultant, APJ enterprise product management, SMB, Dell India, the company has been witnessing enhanced reception from sectors like pharma, textiles and gems and jewellery in Gujarat.

"Manufacturing, pharma, metal casting and gems and jewellery are the key SMB clusters in tier II cities of Gujarat like Surat, Vadodara and Vapi. Gujarat is one of the key regions in western India as far as IT spending is concerned. Which is why are we looking at catering to SMBs in these towns where we see huge market potential for affordable IT infrastructure and end-to-end IT offerings," said Rudra.

According to Dell India, Surat alone currently has close to 60,000 small and medium businesses (SMBs) and total Information and Communication Technology (ICT) spend by SMBs is pegged at $45.2 million (Rs 213.61 crore approx.).

"Mid-market customers have been underserved by traditional IT companies, and yet they represent the fastest growing segment and Dell's greatest opportunity for growth and profitability today. Dell sells to customers of all sizes, from individual consumers to multi-national corporations and will continue to do so, but the mid-market is Dell's focus, in terms of our offerings, especially in regions like Gujarat. Dell as an IT partner is equipped to address customer pain points and resolve problems, allowing them to focus on their personal and business needs," said Rudra.

Nationally, as per the Q2 2011 IDC PC Tracker, Dell has claimed the No.1 spot in the SMB segment. As a part of its defined SMB outreach strategy, Dell India is working closely as an IT partner with emerging businesses, offering them affordable, scalable solutions that help manage their resources in the most effective way.
