Dell Inc, the world’s second-largest maker of personal computers (PCs), is close to clock $2 billion in annual revenue in India and plans to add more staff in the country, according to Founder and Chief Executive Officer Michael Dell.

“$2 billion is the target that our team has as a key milestone (in India),” Dell said at a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry -Dell interactive meeting here today. He did not give a time frame for the target or the current annual revenue in India.

He said the company was expanding its hardware business, developing products and services for education and healthcare sectors, and managing and servicing its offerings in India.

During Dell’s India visit in March 2010, the then managing director and general manager (large enterprises) of Dell India, Sameer Garde, had said India contributed about two per cent of the company’s global revenues, and had an annual revenue run rate of $1 billion.
