As part of its community initiative 'hug' (Helping U Grow), personal computer maker Dell inaugurated its second 'Dell Computer Centre' at the Hope Foundation facility in Hyderabad on Monday.

Set up with funds from Dell Foundation, the centre is equipped with 20 Dell desktop computers. It will impart education to under-served students of the twin cities, and will provide opportunities for Dell employees in Hyderabad and Secunderabad to share their time and knowledge and become role models for the children.

Dell's first computer centre, which was set up at Nampally in April 2006, trained around 330 youth and 60 children last year.

"The intent behind setting up the centre is to teach basics in maths and science to third and fourth grade students, who will be picked up from two schools," Jaideep Pradhan, site director, Dell Hyderabad, told mediapersons here on Monday.

Apart from the two Dell computer centres in Hyderabad, the company has set up similar computer centres in two schools being run for under-served children by Parikrama Humanity Foundation in Bangalore and the at the School for the Blind in Chandigarh.

"We are currently working with the Crystal House Foundation to set up a physics lab in Chandigarh. We are also in dialogue with a couple of organisations in Delhi for setting up computer centres," Romi Malhotra, managing director of Dell International Services, said.
