The device shipments in India, including PCs, tablets, ultramobiles and mobile phones, will amount to 300 million units in 2015, said Gartner Inc. This will be an increase of more than 4.5 per cent from that of 2014.
The traditional personal computer market is expected to grow 2 per cent, with a 9 per cent increase in the notebook market in 2015, said Vishal Tripathi, principal research analyst at Gartner. The computing devices market is forecast to decline three per cent this year, affected by a weak demand for tablets.
A slight growth in the overall PC market in India is also expected, as shipments in the premium ultramobile category, including devices such as Microsoft’s Windows 8 Intel x86 products and Apple’s MacBook Air, is likely to compensate for a decline in sales of traditional desk-based devices.
