Pankaj Mohindroo, national president of the Indian Cellular Association, is certainly headed in the right direction. He's on the lookout for a GPS device for his car with a map that can guide him neatly through city colonies down to the correct house number! Among gadgets he already owns, his favourite is the i-mate Ultimate 9502, which he considers extremely interesting as it has the functionality of a PDA as well as a QWERTY keypad.

Is there a gadget you regret having spent so much money on?
I got a Palm Pilot PDA, which I never used. It was somewhat between my laptop and Windows mobile, so I didn't have much use for it.

What's the first thing you look for in a gadget?
Innovativeness, new features, applications and technology are the first things that I look for in a gadget. It is also very important that the features are user-friendly.

Who's your one-stop gizmo guru?
I am very fond of mobile phones and the one-stop solution to all my queries "" whether it is mobile handsets, operators, value-added services "" is the magazine My Mobile.

Name a gadget you have been waiting to buy.
I have being looking for an outstanding GPS device for my car, with excellent maps including maps within colonies with street numbers, house numbers, et cetera.

Is there a gizmo that regularly distracts you from your work?
Frequent calls on my mobile phone sometimes distract me from my work.

What gizmo do you think is highly overrated?
I don't think in the current scenario any of the gadgets are overrated. Sometimes it is a premium gadget, and people will pay for the extra and innovative features.

What gadget can't you do without, apart from your cellphone?
I actually can't do without my cellphone, the i-mate Ultimate 9502. Nor can I do without my laptop, a Toshiba Protege R200, which is very light and carries most of my data. But with my new i-mate, I am finding less use for my laptop.

How much of the gadget literature do you actually read?
I only read the gadget literature once I start using a gadget. But to keep myself abreast of the latest gadgets, technology, VAS and so on, I regularly read gizmo magazines.

Has there ever been a time when a gizmo had you so frustrated you wanted to pull your hair out?
I have a good track record with the gadgets I have used so far. I just had a few minor service issues, which were solved easily.
