EFI, a player in digital controllers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions, has announced its expansion plans for the Indian market.

As a first step in this regard, the company will move its operations to a new facility on the Outer Ring Road in Bangalore so as to scale up its research and development operations.

EFI's other development centres are located at Pittsburg (USA), and Dusseldorf in Germany, apart from its headquarters in Foster City, California.

The Asia-Pacific region contributes 15 per cent to the company's overall revenues, Saran added. EFI India, a three-year-old firm, employs 150 people and plans to greatly expand its workforce during the present year.

Announcing the opening of the facility, Guy Gecht, chairman & CEO, EFI Inc said that over the past few years, India had emerged as one of the fastest-growing markets for the company.

"EFI India, our wholly-owned subsidiary, is EFI's largest R&D venture outside the US, and is being scaled up to better manage the development of some of our key software products and solutions," he said.

With the latest acquisition of VUTEk, EFI is able to meet all the demands of the graphic arts industry by offering integrated solutions and technologies, he added.

EFI VUTEk printers and inks are used to produce point of purchase displays, advertising, posters, billboards and other 'out of home' graphics up to five meters in width.
