RSA Security's plan to open a development centre in India has materialised following its successful merger with EMC Corporation, a player in the information management and data storage. |
Just within three weeks after the completion of its acquisition of RSA, EMC has announced the opening of a development centre in Bangalore, marking the footprint of its security division in India. |
Part of the $500 million expansion plan for India by 2010 earlier announced by EMC president and CEO Joe Tucci during his last India visit, the Bangalore development centre of RSA will initially house 35 engineers which will be gradually be raised to 100 people by end of 2007 and to 400 people by 2008. |
According to the company, the centre will take on full lifecycle development of RSA identity and access management product lines apart from contributing to the development of EMC's common security platform, by integrating its key security capabilities with EMC's entire product line. |
"The Bangalore development centre will focus on the development and delivery of the common security platform. This will dramatically accelerate the integration of core security services throughout EMC's portfolio of products, providing the customers with a common, open baseline of built-in security for information infrastructure," said Arthur W Coviello, executive vice-president, EMC Corporation and president of RSA. |
Coviello said the company was optimistic of India as a market. "There are tremendous opportunities locally in India and we will have a strong sales and marketing team based out of here to take care of the local market, while our development centre here will support the local and global market," he added. |
