Another day, another entrant in the smartphone market. This one is called Lenovo VibeX, the first in the premium Vibe Series. With this high-end phablet, the company aims to establish itself in the fastest growing segment of the fastest growing smartphone market.
From a distance, the device looks like most of the other five-inch smartphones available. The specifications aren't mindblowing. This Android 4.2 Jelly Bean phone is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, common to almost every phone in this segment.
To its credit, the phablet is surprisingly light at 121g (lightest in the category). Also, the device is just 6.9mm thick, which makes it easy to hold and operate with one hand. The crystal-clear display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen. The matte finish of the back panel renders a snazzy look to the phone and enhances the grip.
And, then there is a 13-MP rear camera with a BSI sensor that promises good perfomance in poor light also. The company is targeting the youth with the gadget and for those obsessed with selfies, Vibe X comes with a good 5-MP front camera. Sunlight visibilty does not disappoint. The 2,000mAh battery might leave you wanting for more. Lenovo has also added some exclusive apps like SHAREit that enables phone-to-phone data transfer at 4Mbps. However, at Rs 25,999, it is slightly expensive.
