Fujitsu opens retail store in Chandigarh

Fujitsu, the provider of customer-focused information technology and communication solutions for the global marketplace, announced the setting up of a brand retail presence in India by opening the first concept store in the country in Chandigarh on Friday.
 
Twelve more concept stores would be opened in Lucknow, Bangalore, Pune, Cochin, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Indore and Delhi. Spread over 300 sq. feet of retail space and with an investment of Rs 10 lakh per store , these outlets would offer customers a wide range of lifebooks, tablet PCs, desktops and other hi-end products from Fujitsu.
 
Speaking to Business Standard, Ramanjeet Singh, Head, PC Division, Fujitsu India Ltd, said that the company started concept stores for people who are early adopters of technology.
 
"It is a part of an aggressive marketing campaign for Fujitsu in India. It will enable us to establish direct contact with customers and help the company to introduce more hi-end products in the Indian market," he said
 
According to research firm IDC, the notebook market in India is currently 5,20,000 units. Based on this study, Singh said that the company was targeting to capture one per cent of the Indian computer market. "We aim to sell 5,200 to 7,000 notebooks this year," he said.
