Business process outsourcing (BPO) major Genpact today said it had acquired the human resources (HR) services subsidiary of Japanese automotive company Nissan Motor in Yokohama for an undisclosed amount.
As a part of the deal, 136 employees of Nissan Human Information Service (NHIS) will be absorbed in Genpact. NHIS currently handles HR functions for Nissan's 54,000 employees worldwide.
The New York Stock Exchange-listed BPO had also bagged a seven-year contract to offer HR services to employees of the auto company.

The center, renamed Genpact Japan Service, will significantly increase Genpact's onshore service delivery capability in Japan. Genpact, which has 110 staffer of its own in Japan, will provide payroll, benefits, staffing, training and other key HR services to Nissan.

Genpact will use the center to offer services to other existing clients.
“Nissan is confident that Genpact will streamline the NHIS operations and provide exceptional learning and growth opportunities for NHIS employees,” Nissan said in the statement.
The BPO giant has worked with Nissan for more than six years, providing a range of business process management services from all major continents, including North America. It currently delivers finance and accounting, procurement, supply chain management, customer service, manufacturing, collections, and analytics services to Nissan.
