GN Netcom, a Denmark-based $ 292 million telecom solutions provider, is planning to set up its manufacturing base in India.

The company, which is primarily into manufacturing of headsets for the contact center industry, is yet to identify a location for the proposed plant.

"To begin with, we are planning to set up a marketing and product support center in the country shortly, and go for a manufacturing base subsequently in the next two years," Piyush Mehta, the sales director (Asia business unit), told Business Standard here today. The proposed manufacturing base will also cater to the other South Asian countries, he informed.

"Currently, we have a 30 per cent marketshare in the country's head sets market, which is led by Planatronics with a 55 per cent marketshare. We are targeting to increase our share to 45 per cent by the end of this year," Mehta said.

The company has recently appointed Tata Telecom as its second distributor in the country to market its headsets.
