Google India on Tuesday launched a new mobile campaign — the Internet Bus — in Tamil Nadu to create awareness about Internet among the rural people.

The bus would cover 15 towns of the state in the next 45 days. The company would focus on educating people on how to use Internet for information, communication, entertainment and education, said Prasad Ram, head of Google R&D, India

The Internet Bus will have content in English and Tamil. Besides, it would educate people on search engine, email, social networking and online maps.

Ram said 19 per cent of the total content on the web in India was in Tamil, next to Hindi. Google would consider sharing some of the feedback from the campaign with the state government. It is also planning to launch the mobile campaign in other states.
