Auditors appointed by the government to look into violation of revenue reporting norms are understood to have submitted the report on Reliance Communications (RCom) and their findings on other telecos would follow in the coming weeks.
The report on RCom would now be examined by a four-member committee of Department of Telecom (DoT), headed by Member Finance, sources said, but did not divulge the content of reports.
Government officials declined to comment and it was not clear whether any violations were detected by the special auditor while scrutinising accounts of Anil Ambani Group company.
The special audit was initiated to check if revenues by the company were diverted to segments which attracted lower licence fee.
The DoT had also ordered a similar special audit of four major telecom companies — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and Tata Teleservices — to ensure that there was no revenue loss to the exchequer.
In case of wrong doings detected during the audit, sources said, the operators could be subjected to penalties under the provisions of licences.
