In the time of mobility and portability, why should printing technology stay behind - this seemed to be idea behind Hewlett-Packard (HP)’s new product launch. HP has unveiled a series of next-generation office printers.

Unveiling their new line of products at the Shangri-La in the capital, Parikshet Singh Tomar, country category leader, printing system, PPS, HP India, noted how mobility had made its way into the printing sphere. HP India presented a re-engineered new series of LaserJet printers which are designed to deliver an increased output and efficiency.

While showcasing products for both home and the workplace with an emphasis on workplace enterprises, Tomar said, “Business customers are looking for smart, affordable solutions that seamlessly integrate into today’s smaller, more communal work spaces… We started with the customer and designed the new LaserJet platform from the inside out to be leaner, faster and smarter than ever before to help meet the demands of the modern office.”

The reengineering is built around the toner - HP introduced ‘JetIntelligence’ integrated in the original toners which makes the printer use about 53% less energy and 40% less space. This feature also enables a ‘duplex’ print function which prints on both sides of the page in a small amount of time.

Since mobility is an important part for every digital product, HP has enabled wifi, network and cloud printing. The printers come with Google Cloud Print 2.0. Users can install add-on software which asks for a PIN, every time the printer receives a print command. This is to make cloud printing safer.

Some of the printers also come with the option of printing with just a flash drive and eliminates the need to connect it to a computer.

One of the most significant features of the printers is that it recognises and accepts original HP cartridges. This prevents an user from getting duped by dealers and helps maintain the printer’s longevity.

The printer series range from Rs 29,565 and go up to Rs 1,08,120. The printers are available on HP’s online store.
