Intel Corporation today announced its much anticipated second-generation Core processors in Indian markets.

R Sivakumar, managing director, sales and marketing, Intel South Asia, said: “Around 12.2 billion videos are viewed per month by just 6.3 billion people across the globe. There has been a 300 per cent rise in the consumption of video downloads from YouTube over the last few years. Our personal computer is no more just a device but a personal media machine. The built-in visual capabilities enabled by these new processors are stunning.”

Intel said incorporation of the new technology would cost 20 per cent more at the system level. In India, systems are likely to be available from original equipment manufacturers like HCL, Wipro, MSI, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba and Dell, as well as from local channel partners. The company says no additional video card is required to run the videos.

George Paul, executive vice president, HCL Infosystems, said: “Today, the consumption patterns clearly indicate a shift towards heavy access to online audio and video content by mainstream users and I am confident our partnership will produce a range of products that will offer an immersive computing experience,”

The company claims these processors automatically deliver a greater burst of speed and finish the work sooner. Everyday tasks like editing a large video or doing other computing-intensive works and running multiple programs at the same time would be easier.

Mahesh Bhalla, general manager, Dell India said: “At Dell, we are very excited about our new range of laptops and desktops which offer amazing speed and high-performance graphics with the next-generation Intel coreprocessors.

Enriched with the display that allows consumers to stream content wirelessly from their laptops to their TV screens, these machines provide premium performance for even the most-demanding multimedia and entertainment applications.”
