Intex Technologies (India) Ltd is focsuing on its mobile business to increase the turnover. After establishing its presence in northern India, the company is now planning to tap the southern parts of the country for its mobile handsets business.
Buoyed by the sales of 100,000 units per month across the country, Intex has set a target of generating Rs 250 crore revenues from sale of mobile handsets. The company had entered into mobile manufacturing sometime ago and last year the mobile business contributed up to Rs. 30 crore to company’s turnover.
Of the Rs 800 crore turnover target set for the fiscal 2009-10, the IT company expects the mobile business to account for Rs 250 crore. Its turnover for the year 2008-09 stood at Rs 460 crore.
“We expect a large chunk of revenues to come from our mobile business. Our mobile products are targeted at masses with a price range of Rs 1,800 to Rs 4,000 per unit,” said Sanjay Kumar, DGM-PC and telecom.
The company already has a presence in mobile markets of north, west and east India. "Now, we are looking at southern states. Recently, we forayed into Andhra Pradesh and cover other states in August", he told the media while unveiling the company's netbook range in Ahmedabad.
The company is expecting sales of Rs 15 crore from its personal computer (PC) business in Gujarat. Last year, the company sold PCs worth Rs 11 crore in the state.
