		While Apple&rsquo;s announcement of new devices generates considerable amount of excitement, it&rsquo;s the software update that is the main talking point. It&rsquo;s been almost 24 hours, since I upgraded to the iOS 9 and here is a look at all that&rsquo;s good, bad and ugly.&nbsp;</div>

		The last few updates from Apple have drawn a lot of criticism &mdash; some of it has been fair &mdash; from various users and experts. For starters, the download process itself used to be cumbersome. However, with iOS 9, Apple have certainly ironed out this flaw. The download is smooth and less painful compared to iOS 7. It also takes less space (1.3 GB space is required) compared to previous versions.&nbsp;</div>

		While there have been noises of discontent on social media, about Apple&rsquo;s new San Francisco font &mdash; used on the Apple watch &mdash; I quite liked it. The characters seem more rounded and the alphabets are clearer and those who&rsquo;re complaining will get used to it in a matter of days.&nbsp;</div>

		On the surface, Apple hasn&rsquo;t done any flashy changes but it has overhauled certain existing apps and features. For instance, the much-neglected Notes app is actually pretty useful now. You can add photos, web links or even maps to your Notes. You can draw and sketch on it as well.&nbsp;</div>

		The app switcher has got a new look and gives it a more neater look. Rather than having a side-by-side view, it offers a stack of cards like look. The Passbook &mdash; if there are people who use it &mdash; is now called a Wallet.&nbsp;</div>

		The Search function is quite handy now and comes with a bar at the top of the screen that has your frequently used contacts and apps. The search function has been enhanced to your email and messages as well.&nbsp;</div>

		One of the standout features &mdash; while it may not sound too grand &mdash; is the Back button. For instance, from Twitter as you open an external link, it gives you an option on the left hand corner that says &ldquo;Back to Twitter&rdquo;.</div>

		The best feature added on iOS 9, though has to be the Low Power Mode. While Android users might scoff at it and say it has been omnipresent on the operating system, for Apple users it&rsquo;s a much-needed addition. The Low Power mode can be switched on manually or as soon as your battery hits 20 or 10 per cent mark, you get an option to switching over. I tried this mode and the battery life was extended by 75 minutes or so.&nbsp;</div>

		Apple&rsquo;s voice assistant Siri has been given much-needed tweaks. It was mostly being used for random fun &mdash; asking silly questions or at best to put an alarm &mdash; and not put to great use. You can now ask Siri to look for specific photos or tell him/her to remind you about what you were looking for in an app. The new Siri scores high on functionality and is on the lines of Google Now.&nbsp;</div>

		Apple News is a feature that is available only in the US as of now but I am keenly anticipating its India debut as it replaces the redundant Newstand app.&nbsp;</div>

		The Maps have been upgraded &mdash; they&rsquo;re more informative &mdash; but I still prefer Google Maps as certain issues persist on iOS 9 and it&rsquo;s an area that Apple certainly needs to work on.&nbsp;</div>
	<br>
	<div>
		iOS 9 will certainly grow on you as you explore it more. It might not look any different but it certainly adds a lot more to the iPhone and the iPad.&nbsp;</div>

		For the first time in the past couple of years, Apple has an upgrade that will find more fans than critics. It certainly seems like a great upgrade, one you should get immediately as it will be worth your time. Its simple, sleek and certainly a lot more speedier than any of its earlier upgrades.&nbsp;</div>

		iOS 9 is available for iPhone 4s, 5, 5s, 6 and 6 Plus owners, as well as the majority of iPad owners.</div>
