Tata Teleservices plans to invest around Rs 400 crore in Karnataka over the next one year in its efforts to expand its operations and network in the state.

The company currently offers coverage across 130 towns in Karnataka and has a cumulative customer base of 3.5 lakh.

Said Prabhat Pani, COO, Tata Teleservices (Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh): "Since starting our services in Karnataka, we have invested around Rs 1,200 crore including Rs 400 crore last year alone. As we go forward and consolidate our growth in the region, we should be investing around the same amount here over the next year."

The investment is part of the Rs 8,000 crore investment Tata Teleservices has planned across India over the next two years. The Tata Group plans aggressive go-to-market strategy in the CDMA space.

"As a group, we are clear that CDMA will be the focus for us and we are on track for that," Pani noted.

He added that Tata Teleservices is seeing good growth in its mobile CDMA offerings and in the next phase of growth it will witness close to 70 per cent surge from the sector.

"Clearly, mobile will be our thrust area and we are rolling out innovative offerings to expand our services in the segment," Pani noted.
