Now, a small soap-sized unit can help keep your loved ones safe. Coupled with an app, the Traxstar device is a beneficial utility for women and children. It works on a very simple principle - the device interacts with the mobile app with which you can track the device's location.
The device has four buttons on it - three prefixed phone numbers and an SOS button. The device can be charged with a normal USB cable.
After purchasing the device, one needs to set it up. Before one can use it, a user account needs to be created. One has to go to www.traxstartech.com and create a user account. Once set up, the device details such as the IMEI number needs to be filled in under 'Add device'. Similarly, using the Traxstar web and/or app, one can key in the emergency numbers which correspond to the three buttons on the device.
After setting up my device, I thought of checking its accuracy. Of course, I had to inform my parents beforehand that it was only a test lest they worry that I was in danger. Here's how it works: The person using the app can keep a track of the device's whereabouts while the device holder can click one of the four buttons in case their safety is compromised. The SOS button calls all three numbers one by one till one of them picks up.
It is a pretty nifty device given the crime rate these days. It looks inconspicuous and is easy to carry. It is priced at Rs 5,000.
