Kochi-based Infopark will launch its hub and spoke model IT park at Koratty near Thrissur by November this year. Meanwhile, master plans for IT parks at Cherthala and Ambalapuzha, the other two spoke models of Kochi Infopark, have been approved and the development work has been initiated.
The state government has allotted 42 acres of land for the Koratty IT park. The park is 45 km from Kochi and around 14 km from the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery.
Infrastructure development work is currently being undertaken on 30 acres. In the first phase, approximately 70,000 sft area with plug-and-play facilities will be provided. Apart from uninterrupted power, water and connectivity, the park will provide single window clearance facility.
In the second phase, developed plots will be offered to co-developers. When complete, the park will have a direct employment potential of around 6,000 IT professionals.
The public works department has already initiated a proposal to develop a six-lane road connecting Kochi and Thrissur to ease the traffic pressure on the National Highway 47.
The IT department has conceived a ‘hub and spoke’ model for the development of IT in the state. While Technopark -Thiruvananthapuram, Infopark-Kochi and Cyberpark-Kozhikode will act as the hubs, satellite centres are being developed at Kollam, Ambalapuzha, Cherthala, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod. These IT parks will have an association with the Kerala State Information Technology Mission and Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd.
